The Pitcairn (Amendment) Order 2002

Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Pitcairn (Amendment) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 20th November 2002.
Amendment of section 5 of the Pitcairn Order 19702.
“(2A)
Subject to the provisions of any law for the time being in force in the Islands, a court established under subsection (2) shall sit in such place in the Islands as the Governor, acting in accordance with the advice of the Chief Justice, may appoint:
Provided that it may also sit in the United Kingdom, or in such other place as the Governor, acting in accordance with the advice of the Chief Justice, may appoint.”.
This Order amends the Pitcairn Order 1970 so as to authorise courts and judicial authorities established for Pitcairn under that Order to function in such place as the Governor may appoint, in addition to Pitcairn or the United Kingdom.
