Whereas the Secretary of State considers it expedient for this Order to be made without a draft having been approved by resolution of each House of Parliament:

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 6 of the Northern Ireland Act 20001, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Northern Ireland Act 2000 (Modification) Order 2002 and shall come into force on the day after the day on which it is made.

At the end of paragraphs 8(3) and 9(4) of the Schedule to the Northern Ireland Act 2000, for “money provided by Parliament” there shall be substituted “the Consolidated Fund of Northern Ireland”.

This Order modifies the Northern Ireland Act 2000 in consequence of provision made under section 2 of that Act, suspending devolved government in Northern Ireland, on 14th October 2002.

The Order provides that during suspension expenditure incurred by the Secretary of State in exercising the functions of the Assembly Commission and in relation to members' salaries etc. is to be defrayed from the Consolidated Fund of Northern Ireland.
