The Employment Act 2002 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2002
Citation and interpretation1.
(1)
This Order may be cited as the Employment Act 2002 (Commencement No. 2) Order 2002.

In this Order, any reference to a numbered section or Schedule is a reference to the section or Schedule bearing that number in the Employment Act 2002.
Appointed day2.
The day appointed for the coming into force of—
(a)
section 50 and Schedule 6 (use of information for, or relating to, employment and training);
(b)
paragraphs 8, 16 and 17 of Schedule 7 and section 53 so far as it relates to those paragraphs;
(c)
section 54 and Part (1) of Schedule 8 to the extent that they repeal the provisions specified in the Schedule to this Order;
(d)
shall be 9th September 2002.

This Order brings into force further provisions of the Employment Act 2002 (c. 22).
Section 50 and Schedule 6 (use of information for, or relating to, employment and training) as well as other provisions which are consequential on the coming into force of that section and Schedule, are brought fully into force on 9th September 2002. These provisions allow the Department for Work and Pensions to have supplied to them, and to use, information relating to a person’s employment and training. They also allow the Department to have access to tax information held by the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise for the purpose of preventing fraud, both by those contracted to deliver employment and training programmes and by participants in those programmes.

Paragraph 50 of Schedule 7 to the Employment Act 2002 and Section 53 of that Act so far as it relates to that paragraph, was brought into force on 31st July 2002 by S.I.2002/1989. (C.62)
