the Health and Safety at Work <abbr title="et cetera" xml:lang="la">etc.</abbr> Act 1974<authorialNote class="footnote" eId="f00001" marker="1"><p><ref eId="c00001" href="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1975/71">1975 (c. 71)</ref> respectively; the general purposes of Part I referred to in section 15(1) were extended by section 1(1) of the Offshore Safety Act <ref eId="c00003" href="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1992/15">1992 (c. 15)</ref>.</p></authorialNote> and section 1(2)(a) of the Offshore Safety Act 1992<authorialNote class="footnote" eId="f00002" marker="2"><p><ref eId="c00004" href="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1992/15">1992 c. 15</ref>.</p></authorialNote> and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and for the purpose of giving effect without modifications to proposals submitted to him by the Health and Safety Commission under section 11(2)(d) of the said Act of 1974 after the carrying out by the Health and Safety Commission of consultations in accordance with section 50(3) of the said Act of 1974, hereby makes the following Regulations:</p></formula></preamble><body eId="body"><hcontainer name="regulation" eId="regulation-1"><heading>Citation, commencement and interpretation</heading><num>1.</num><paragraph eId="regulation-1-1"><num>(1)</num><content><p>These Regulations may be cited as the Offshore Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 17th September 2002.</p></content></paragraph><paragraph eId="regulation-1-2"><num>(2)</num><content><p>References in these Regulations to the “Management Regulations” are to the Offshore Installations and Pipeline Works (Management and Administration) Regulations 1995<authorialNote class="footnote" eId="f00003" marker="3"><p><abbr class="acronym" title="Statutory Instrument">S.I.</abbr> <ref eId="c00005" href="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/uksi/1995/738">1995/738</ref>.</p></authorialNote>.</p></content></paragraph></hcontainer><hcontainer name="regulation" eId="regulation-2"><heading>Amendment of the Management Regulations</heading><num>2.</num><paragraph eId="regulation-2-1"><num>(1)</num><intro><p>Regulation 2(1) of the Management Regulations shall be amended—</p></intro><level class="para1" eId="regulation-2-1-a"><num>(a)</num><content><p>by deleting the word “and” at the end of sub-paragraph (b) of the definition of “relevant waters”; and</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="regulation-2-1-b"><num>(b)</num><content><p><mod>by inserting after the definition of “relevant waters” the following definition—<quotedStructure startQuote="“" endQuote="”" uk:context="unknown" uk:docName="unknown" ukl:TargetClass="unknown" ukl:TargetSubClass="unknown" ukl:Context="unknown" ukl:Format="default"><hcontainer name="definition"><content><p>“supplementary unit” means a fixed or floating structure, other than a vessel, for providing energy, information or substances to an offshore installation; and</p></content></hcontainer></quotedStructure><inline name="appendText">.</inline></mod></p></content></level></paragraph><paragraph eId="regulation-2-2"><num>(2)</num><intro><p>Regulation 3 of the Management Regulations shall be amended—</p></intro><level class="para1" eId="regulation-2-2-a"><num>(a)</num><content><p>in paragraph (1), by substituting the words “together with any supplementary unit which is ordinarily connected to it or any part of it (including those parts described in paragraph (3) below) and all of the connections” for the words “and which is not an excepted structure”;</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="regulation-2-2-b"><num>(b)</num><content><p>in paragraph (2), by substituting the words “Any reference in paragraph (1) to a structure or unit does not include” for the words “For the purposes of paragraph (1), the excepted structures are”; and</p></content></level><level class="para1" eId="regulation-2-2-c"><num>(c)</num><content><p>in sub-paragraph (e) of paragraph (2), by substituting the words “yet being moved with a view to its being” for the words “for the time being intended to
