1. This Order may be cited as the A44 London to Aberystwyth Trunk Road (A34 Peartree Roundabout to A40 Wolvercote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 200 , and shall come into force on 30th March 2002.
2. In this Order—
(i)“principal” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and
(ii)“the trunk road” means the A44 London to Aberystwyth Trunk Road (A44)
3. The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Oxfordshire County Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road.

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the A34 at Peartree Roundabout and the A40 at Wolvercote Roundabout (including the A44/A34 Peartree Interchange Roundabout) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered A44-75363/4/A44/001-003, marked “The A44 London to Aberystwyth Trunk Road (A34 Peartree Roundabout to A40 Wolvercote Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, DTLR Deposited Document Service, Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
