Coming into force
The Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 19801 and now vested in him2, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf:

1.

This Order may be cited as the A423 Maidenhead to Oxford Trunk Road (A34 Hinksey Hill Interchange to A4142 Heyford Hill Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002 and shall come into force on 30th March 2002.

In this Order—

(i)

“principal” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is a principal road for the purposes of enactments and instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads and is also classified for the purpose of every other enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State; and

(ii)

“the trunk road” means the A423 Maidenhead to Oxford Trunk Road (A423)

3.

The length of the trunk road described in the Schedule to this Order shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a principal road from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies Oxfordshire County Council that they will become the highway authority responsible for that length of road.

THE SCHEDULELENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road is situated between the A34 at Hinksey Hill Interchange and the A4142 at Heyford Hill Roundabout (including the A423/A34 Hinksey Hill Interchange Roundabout and the A423/4144 Kennington Roundabout) and is shown by broad black dashes on the plan numbered A423-75363/4/A423/001-004, marked “The A423 Maidenhead to Oxford Trunk Road (A34 Hinksey Hill Interchange to A4142 Heyford Hill Roundabout) (Detrunking) Order 2002” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Transport, Local Government and the Regions, DTLR Deposited Document Service, Ashdown House, Sedlescombe Road North, St Leonards on Sea, Hastings, East Sussex TN37 7GA.
