The Dentists Act 1984 (Dental Auxiliaries) Order 2002
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 22nd day of May 2002
Present,
The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 46(4)(a) of that Act and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Dentists Act 1984 (Dental Auxiliaries) Order 2002 and shall come into force on the day after that on which it is made.
Application of section 46 of the Dentists Act 19842.
Section 46(1)(b) of the Dentists Act 1984 shall cease to have effect in relation to dental therapists.
Section 46(1)(b) of the Dentists Act 1984 stipulates that the filling of teeth and the extraction of deciduous teeth can only be undertaken by dental auxiliaries in the course of the provision of national health services. This order disapplies this provision in relation to dental therapists.
