The Secretary of State for Education and Employment, in exercise of the powers conferred on the Secretary of State by sections 22, 42(6) and 43(1) of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998(1), hereby makes the following Regulations:
1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) (Amendment) Regulations 2001 and shall come into force on 20th March 2001.
2. The Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2000 (2) shall be amended as follows.
3. In regulation 8(1) for sub-paragraph (a) substitute the following:
“(a)living costs at the rate of 21,300,000 Italian Lire per annum or 1,775,000 Italian Lire per month from 1st September 2000 to 31st December 2000 and at the rate of 21,900,000 Italian Lire per annum or 1,825,000 Italian Lire per month from 1st January 2001;”.

These Regulations, made under section 22 of the Teaching and Higher Education Act 1998, come into force on 20th March 2001. They amend the Education (Student Support) (European Institutions) Regulations 2000 by increasing the rate of grant for living costs for students at the European University Institute.
