Section 72 amends section 444 of the Education Act 1996 (c. 56) to include an aggravated offence where a parent, knowing that his child is failing to attend regularly at school, fails without reasonable justification to cause him to attend. A person guilty of such an offence is liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale or to imprisonment for a term not exceeding three months.</dc:description>
