Explanatory Note
This Order dissolves the Central Electricity Generating Board (“CEGB”) with effect on 9th November 2001. The property, rights and liabilities of the CEGB were transferred to nominated successor companies (see S.I. 1990/224) on 31st March 1990 under section 66 of the Electricity Act 1989. Section 84 of that Act provides for the CEGB to continue in existence after the transfer date, and Schedule 17 to the Act provides for certain duties to be carried out as necessary by the CEGB. Those duties, so far as necessary and as applying to the CEGB, have been discharged.
