<Text>by paragraph 3(1)(a) of Schedule 8 to the Terrorism Act 2000<FootnoteRef Ref="f00001"/> (“the <Abbreviation Expansion="Terrorism Act 2000 c. 11">2000 Act</Abbreviation>”) the Secretary of State is required to issue a code of practice in connection with the audio recording of any interview by a constable of a person detained under Schedule 7 to or section 41 of the 2000 Act if the interview takes place in a police station;</Text>

<Text>pursuant to paragraph 4(2) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act, the Secretary of State has published a draft of the code of practice in connection with the above matter and has considered representations made to him about it and modified it as he thinks appropriate;</Text>

<Text>The code of practice in connection with the audio recording of any interview by a constable of a person detained under Schedule 7 to or section 41 of the 2000 Act if the interview takes place in a police station (within the meaning of paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 8 to the 2000 Act), which was laid before Parliament in draft on 14th December 2000, shall come into operation on 19th February 2001.</Text>
