The General Teaching Council for England (Additional Functions) (Amendment) Order 2001

This Order may be cited as the General Teaching Council for England (Additional Functions) (Amendment) Order 2001 and shall come into force on 1st June 2001.

(a)
““national numeracy test” means the national test for teacher training candidates in numeracy, being a standard determined by the Secretary of State under regulation 13 of the Education (Induction Arrangements for School Teachers) (England) Regulations 19993;”; and
““performance threshold” means the professional standards from time to time determined by the Secretary of State and set out in Annex 1 of the School Teachers' Pay and Conditions Document 20004, against which classroom teachers are assessed to determine whether they have passed the threshold for the purpose of calculating their pay;”;

“for such period (if any) as is specified in that Part and”;

If known, the teacher’s national insurance number.”;

If known, an indication of whether the teacher has passed the performance threshold, the date on which he passed it and the school at which he was employed when he passed the performance threshold.”;

Where the teacher gained Qualified Teacher Status between 1 May 2000 and 30 April 2001 and has not yet passed or failed an induction period, if known, an indication of whether the teacher has passed the national numeracy test and if he has not, the number of attempts the teacher has made at the test.”; and

The terms of any disciplinary order, other than a reprimand, for the time being in force, made by the Council or the General Teaching Council for Wales.
23B.
The terms of any reprimand issued by the Council or the General Teaching Council for Wales, for a period of two years from the date the reprimand was issued.”.
This Order amends The General Teaching Council for England (Additional Functions) Order 2000. It provides for the General Teaching Council for England to record information relating to whether a teacher has passed the performance threshold, the date upon which he did so and the school at which he was teaching when he did so. Information relating to whether or not the teacher has passed the national numeracy test and the number of attempts he has made at the test is to be recorded only in the case of teachers achieving Qualified Teacher Status between 1 May 2000 and 30 April 2001 who have not yet completed an induction period. It also provides for the recording of any disciplinary orders made against the teacher by the General Teaching Council of England or the General Teaching Council for Wales. Reprimands issued by either of the Councils are only to be recorded against the name of the teacher for a period of 2 years from the date the reprimand is issued.
