The Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 (Commencement of Variations) Order 2000

Coming into force
Whereas the Public Lending Right Scheme 19821 (“the Scheme ”) was brought into force on 14th June 1982;
Whereas the Scheme has been varied2;

And whereas the Secretary of State, after consultation with the representatives of authors and library authorities and of others who appear likely to be affected, has further varied the Scheme;

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(7) of the Public Lending Right Act 19793 and now vested in him4, hereby makes the following Order:–

This Order may be cited as the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 (Commencement of Variations) Order 2000.

The variation in the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 which was made on 30th March 2000 by the Secretary of State and is set out in the Appendix to this Order shall come into force on 1st July 2000.

APPENDIXVARIATION IN THE PUBLIC LENDING RIGHT SCHEME 1982 MADE BY THE SECRETARY OF STATE ON 30TH MARCH 2000

1.

Schedule 5 of the Scheme shall be varied by substituting for “Federal Republic of Germany” the following:

“Austria

Belgium

Denmark

Finland

France

Germany

Greece

Iceland

Ireland

Italy

Liechtenstein

Luxembourg

Netherlands

Norway

Portugal

Spain

Sweden”

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force a variation to the Public Lending Right Scheme 1982 made by the Secretary of State on 30th March 2000.

The variation is set out in the Appendix. The effect of the variation is to include within the Scheme as eligible persons under Article 5 of the Scheme those authors who are resident in any country of the European Economic Area.
