Citation, commencement and application1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (Amendment) (England) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st April 2000.

These Regulations apply to local authorities and other bodies in England only.
Increase of allowances2.

The amendment made by paragraph (1) applies in relation to attendance at a conference or meeting on or after 1st April 2000.
Revocation3.
The Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 are revoked insofar as they relate to local authorities and other bodies in England.

These Regulations further amend the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) Regulations 1991. They apply only in relation to local authorities and other bodies in England.
Regulation 2(1) increases, from £29.48 to £30.39, the maximum which may be paid to parish and community councillors and to non-elected members of local authorities by way of allowance under section 175(1A) (allowances for attending conferences and meetings) of the Local Government Act 1972.
Regulation 2(2) provides for the increase to have effect in relation to attendances at conferences and meetings on or after 1st April 2000.
Regulation 3 revokes the Local Authorities (Members' Allowances) (Amendment) Regulations 1999 insofar as they relate to local authorities and other bodies in England.
