The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 125C(2) of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980(1), makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.  This Order may be cited as the Enforcement of Warrants (Disclosure of Information) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 8th January 2001.

Specification of relevant public authorities

2.  The Secretary of State for Social Security shall be a relevant public authority for the purposes of section 125C of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980 (disclosure of information for enforcing warrants).

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

Section 125C of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980, as inserted by the Access to Justice Act 1999, provides for a justices' chief executive to apply to a relevant public authority for basic personal information for the purpose of enforcing certain warrants. This Order specifies that the Secretary of State for Social Security is a relevant public authority for this purpose.
