The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 37 of the Children and Young Persons Act 1963(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—
1963 c. 37. Section 37 was amended by the Children (Protection at Work) Regulations 1998 (S.I. 1998/276). The powers are exercisable by the Secretary of State in relation to England only. In so far as exercisable in relation to Wales, the powers have been transferred to the National Assembly for Wales by article 2 of the National Assembly for Wales (Transfer of Functions) Order 1999 (S.I. 1999/672). In relation to Scotland, they are exercisable by a member of the Scottish Executive by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46).
