In exercise of the powers conferred by section 128(1), (2) and (6) of the Education Reform Act 1988(1) the Secretary of State for Education and Employment, after consultation with The College of Guidance Studies higher education corporation(2) and the Higher Education Funding Council for England in accordance with subsection (4) of the said section 128 and with the consent of the Canterbury Christ Church University College given in accordance with subsection (2) of that section, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as The College of Guidance Studies Higher Education Corporation (Dissolution) Order 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.

(2) In this Order “the corporation” means The College of Guidance Studies higher education corporation.

2.  On 1st August 2000 the corporation shall be dissolved and all of its property, rights and liabilities shall be transferred to and vest in Canterbury Christ Church University College.

3.  Section 127 of the Education Reform Act 1988 shall apply to any person employed by the corporation immediately before 1st August 2000 as if the reference in that section—

(a)to a person to whom that section applies were to a person so employed;

(b)to the transfer date were to 1st August 2000;

(c)to the transferor authority were to the corporation; and

(d)to the corporation were to Canterbury Christ Church University College.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order dissolves The College of Guidance Studies higher education corporation which was originally established as Kent College for the Careers Service. It provides that the property, rights and liabilities of the dissolved corporation transfer to Canterbury Christ Church University College and secures the rights of employees by applying section 127 of the Education Reform Act 1988.
