NATIONAL LOTTERY

The National Lottery Act 1998 (Commencement) Order 1999

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 27(3) of the National Lottery Act 1998(1), hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the National Lottery Act 1998 (Commencement) Order 1999.

2.  The following provisions of the National Lottery Act 1998, namely–

(a)section 1,

(b)Schedule 1, and

(c)Part I of Schedule 5 and section 26 so far as relating to that Part of that Schedule, shall come into force on 1st April 1999.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force, as from 1st April 1999, section 1 of, and Schedule 1 to the National Lottery Act 1998 (the Act) along with certain consequential repeals. Section 1 and Schedule 1 make provision for the National Lottery Commission which replaces the Director General of the National Lottery.

Upon this Order taking effect, all the provisions of the Act will have been brought into force. Those provisions not brought into force by this Order came into force, by reason of section 27 of the Act, either on the day on which the Act was passed, 2nd July 1998, or two months thereafter.
