The Distress for Rent (Amendment) (No. 3) Rules 1999

Coming into force in accordance with rule 1

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 8 of the Law of Distress Amendment Act 1888(1), and section 3 of the Law of Distress Amendment Act 1895(2), hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1.  These Rules may be cited as the Distress for Rent (Amendment) (No. 3) Rules 1999 and shall come into force:

(a) as to rule 2(b), on 31st January 2000; and

(b) as to the remainder of these Rules, on 20th December 1999.

Amendments to Distress for Rent Rules 1988

2.  The following entries in Appendix 3 to the Distress for Rent Rules 1988(3) shall be deleted:

(a) the entry relating to Bridgwater; and

(b) the entries relating to Grays Thurrock and Great Yarmouth.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules are consequential on the closure, by virtue of the Civil Courts (Amendment) (No. 3) Order 1999, of the county courts at Bridgwater, Grays Thurrock and Great Yarmouth, and removes references to them from the list of county courts in Appendix 3 to the Distress for Rent Rules 1988.
