Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 1 of the Ministers of the Crown Act 19751, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Transfer of Functions (Scientific Research) Order 1999.

This Order shall come into force on 15th November 1999.
Functions relating to scientific research to be exercisable concurrently2

The functions of the Secretary of State under section 5(1) of the Science and Technology Act 19652 shall be exercisable concurrently by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.

In section 5(1) of that Act—
a
after the words “Secretary of State”, where they appear for the first time, there shall be inserted the words “or the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food”, and
b
after the words “Secretary of State”, where they appear for the second time, there shall be inserted the words “or, as the case may be, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food”.

Nothing in this article shall be taken as implying that the functions of the Secretary of State under section 99 of the Electricity Act 19893 are to become exercisable concurrently by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
