7. Bulk carriers of 150m in length and upwards of single side skin construction, constructed on or after 1st July 1999, and designed to carry solid bulk cargoes having a density of 1000 kg/m3 and above, shall have sufficient strength to withstand flooding of any one cargo hold in all loading and ballast conditions, taking also into account dynamic effects resulting from the presence of water in the hold, and the IMO Recommendation on “Compliance with SOLAS Regulation XII/5”(1).
Adopted by Resolution 3 of the 1997 SOLAS Conference.
