Coming into force
The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19841, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act2, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the A4 Trunk Road (Colnbrook By-pass, Tarmac Way and Stanwell Moor Road, Hillingdon) (Prohibition of U-Turn) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 25th February 1998.

In this Order:
“Tarmac Way” and
“Stanwell Moor Road” mean the roads of those names in the London Borough of Hillingdon, and
“The Trunk Road” mean that length of the A4 Trunk Road in the London Borough of Hillingdon known as Colnbrook By-pass.

Save as provided in Article 4 below, no person shall cause or permit any vehicle–
a
on entering the trunk road from the southbound carriageway of Tarmac Way to make a U-turn so as to proceed in the opposite direction;
b
proceeding in either the eastbound or westbound carriageway of the trunk road to make a U-turn at the junction with Tarmac Way so as to proceed in the opposite direction; or
c
on entering the trunk road from the northbound carriageway of Stanwell Moor Road to make a U-turn so as to proceed in the opposite direction.

Nothing in article 3 above shall apply to–
a
any vehicle being used for Police, Fire Brigade or Ambulance purposes; or
b
anything done at the direction of, or with the permission of a constable in uniform a traffic warden.
