http://www.legislation.gov.uk/uksi/1998/367/madeThe A40 Trunk Road (Western Avenue, Ealing) (Speed Limits) Order 1998Speed limitsRoads and highwaysVehiclesBridgesTraffic managementKing's Printer of Acts of Parliament2011-07-04ROAD TRAFFIC 1998 No. 367 Made 12th February 1998 Coming into force 16th February 1998 The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions in exercise of the powers conferred by section 84(1)(a) and (2) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order: 1 This Order may be cited as the A40 Trunk Road (Western Avenue, Ealing) (Speed Limits) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 16th February 1998. 2 In this Order:–; “Western Avenue” means that length of the A40 trunk road in the London borough of Ealing known as Western Avenue. “the eastbound exit slip road” means that length of road which links the eastbound carriageway of Western Avenue with the bridge that carries Argyle Road over Western Avenue; “the eastbound access slip road” means that length of road which links Bideford Avenue with the eastbound carriageway of Western Avenue; “the westbound exit slip road” means that length of road which links the westbound carriageway of Western Avenue; and “the westbound access slip road” means that length of road which links Argyle Road with the westbound carriageway of Western Avenue. 3 No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 40 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 1 to this Order. 4 No person shall drive a motor vehicle at a speed exceeding 50 miles per hour on the lengths of road specified in Schedule 2 to this Order. 5 The Trunk Roads (Speed Limits) (No. 2) Order 1972, and article 3 of the Trunk Road (A40) (Western Avenue, Ealing) (Speed Limits) Order 1984, are hereby revoked. Mellors A Grade 7 Officer Highways Agency London Network & Customer Division 12th February 1998 SCHEDULE 1 (Article 3) 1 That length of Western Avenue from the eastern kerbline of its junction with Old Oak Common Lane and Old Oak Road to a point 369 metres east of the centre line of the Argyle Road bridge a distance of approximately 5.5 kilometres. 2 That length of the westbound exit slip road from its junction with Western Avenue to a point 50 metres east of the eastern kerbline of the Argyle Road bridge, a distance of approximately 565 metres. 3 That length of the eastbound access slip road from a point 10 metres east of the eastern kerbline of Bideford Avenue to its junction with Western Avenue, a distance of approximately 195 metres. SCHEDULE 2 (Article 4) 1 That length of Western Avenue from a point 369 metres east of the centre line of the Argyle Road bridge to a point 64 metres west of the centre line of the Islip Manor footbridge, a distance of approximately 4.8 kilometres. 2 That length of the westbound access slip road between a point 10 metres west of its junction with the western kerbline of the Argyle Road bridge and its junction with Western Avenue, a distance of approximately 410 metres. 3 That length of the eastbound exit slip road from its junction with Western Avenue to a point 50 metres west of its junction with the western kerbline of the Argyle Road bridge, a distance of approximately 360 metres. 1984 c. 27.
