PROBATION

The Inner London Probation Area (Amendment)Order 1998

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 2 of the Probation Service Act 1993(1), and after the consultation required by that section, hereby makes the following Order:

1.  This Order may be cited as the Inner London Probation Area (Amendment) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 31st December 1998.

2.  The Inner London Probation Area Order 1992(2) shall be amended by substituting in article 4(b) for the word “twelve” the word “eleven”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Inner London Probation Area Order 1992 (S.I. 1992/348) so as to reduce by one the number of justices of the peace on the Inner London and City probation committee consequent on the amalgamation of the East Central and West Central petty sessions areas in Inner London. The amalgamation is effected by the Petty Sessional Divisions (Inner London) Order 1998 (S.I. 1998/2968), the relevant provisions of which come into force on 31st December 1998.
