Citation, commencement and interpretation

These Regulations may be cited as the Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces (Fees) (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 1998 and shall come into force on 1st April 1999.

Amendment of the principal Regulations

In the first entry in column 2 of Part III of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (recording of name, or change of name or surname or alternative name) for the amount specified in column 4 of that Part there shall be substituted “36.00”.

In the second entry in column 2 of Schedule 3 to the principal Regulations (civil marriage ceremony) for the amount specified in column 4 there shall be substituted “45.00”.

These Regulations amend the Registration of Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces (Fees) (Scotland) Regulations 1998 so as to increase certain fees with effect from 1st April 1999.
The fee payable for the recording of a name, or change of name or surname or alternative name under the Registration of Births, Deaths and Marriages (Scotland) Act 1965 is increased from £34.00 to £36.00 (regulation 2).
The fee payable for a civil marriage ceremony under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 is increased from £40.00 to £45.00 (regulation 3).
