The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 2(9) and 15(5) of the Local Government Act 19881, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:
Citation and commencement1
This Order may be cited as the Local Government Act 1988 (Defined Activities) (Exemptions) (Dacorum, Hertsmere and Luton Borough Councils) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 29th July 1998.
Exemptions of sports and leisure facilities management2

The management of sports and leisure facilities2 by the council of the borough of Dacorum shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 1st December 1998 and ending on 30th September 1999, in the Berkhamsted Sports Centre, Lagley Meadows, Douglas Gardens, Berkhamsted.

The management of sports and leisure facilities by the council of the borough of Hertsmere shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out during the period beginning with 1st January 2000 and ending on 31st December 2001, in the following premises in the borough:
The Furzefield Centre, Mutton Lane, Potters Bar
The Hartspring Centre, Park Avenue, Bushey
The Hertsmere Centre Pool, Elstree Way, Borehamwood.
Exemption of schools and welfare catering by Luton Borough Council3
The provision of catering for the purposes of schools and welfare3 by the council of the borough of Luton shall not be treated as a defined activity so long as it is carried out in their area during the period beginning with 1st September 1998 and ending on 31st March 2002.
