The Special Health Authorities (Establishment and Constitution Orders) Amendment Order 1998

Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Health, in exercise of powers conferred on him by sections 11(1) and (2) and 126(3) of the National Health Service Act 19771 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Special Health Authorities (Establishment and Constitution Orders) Amendment Order 1998 and shall come into force on 21st July 1998.

Amendment of the Authorities for the Ashworth, Broadmoor and Rampton Hospitals (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19962

After article 5 of the Authorities for the Ashworth, Broadmoor and Rampton Hospitals (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19962 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings6

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to each Authority.

Amendment of the Family Health Services Appeal Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19953

After article 7 of the Family Health Services Appeal Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19953 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings8

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Authority.

Amendment of the Health Education Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19874

After article 5 of the Health Education Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19874 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings6

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Authority.

Amendment of the Mental Health Act Commission (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19835

After article 4 of the Mental Health Act Commission (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19835 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings5

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Commission.

Amendment of the National Blood Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19936

After article 7 of the National Blood Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19936 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings8

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Authority.

Amendment of the National Health Service Supplies Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19917

After article 6 of the National Health Service Supplies Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19917 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings7

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Authority.

Amendment of the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19918

After article 7 of the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority (Establishment and Constitution) Order 19918 there shall be added the following article—

Admission to meetings8

The Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 shall apply to the Authority.

This Order amends the Orders for the establishment and constitution of certain Special Health Authorities by providing that those bodies shall be bodies to which the Public Bodies (Admission to Meetings) Act 1960 applies. The effect of such amendment is that, save as provided for by that Act, representatives of the press and other members of the public must be admitted to the meetings of those bodies. The Special Health Authorities concerned are: the Ashworth, Broadmoor and Rampton Hospitals; the Family Health Service Appeal Authority; the Health Education Authority; the Mental Health Act Commission; the National Blood Authority; the National Health Service Supplies Authority and the United Kingdom Transplant Support Service Authority.
