Coming into force

The Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport and the Regions, in exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph 1(4) of Schedule 6 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 19961, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Channel Tunnel Rail Link (Qualifying Authorities) Order 1998 and shall come into force on 8th July 1998.

The Medway Towns District Council, being a relevant local authority which is not a qualifying authority and in respect of which a change of circumstances since the relevant date has significantly affected the way in which it carries out its functions, shall be a qualifying authority for the purposes of Schedule 6 to the Channel Tunnel Rail Link Act 1996.
