Citation and commencement1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) (Amendment) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 1st April 1997.
Transitional provisions2.
Amendments to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 19893.
In the Table following paragraph 2(2) of Part III of Schedule 1 to the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989, there shall be omitted—
(a)
in item 3.1, the words “under section 6(2) of the Magistrates' Courts Act 1980”;
(b)
the whole of item 3.2.
We consent
These Regulations amend the Legal Aid in Criminal and Care Proceedings (Costs) Regulations 1989 so that all committal proceedings governed by the new procedure provided by the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act 1996 fall within Category 3 for the purposes of solicitors' standard fees in the magistrates' courts.
