Amendment of principal Regulations 2 In regulation 2(1) of the principal Regulations in the definition of “prescribed period” for “31st March 1997” there shall be substituted “30th June 1997”. These Regulations amend each of the three sets of Regulations which provide for payment of compensation to certain staff of local authorities and other bodies affected by local government reorganisation on 1st April 1996.

The compensation is payable, on fulfilment of certain conditions, where an eligible person (a) ceases to hold employment with a relevant body by reason of redundancy or in the interests of efficiency or (b) takes up a post with a new authority at a lower annual rate of remuneration or suffers a reduction or further reduction in remuneration, where either event occurs during a specified period as a consequence of reorganisation. In each case, the period specified is 6th April 1995 to 31st March 1997. The effect of these Regulations is to extend the specified period to 30th June 1997.
