The Section 19 Minibus (Designated Bodies) (Amendment) Order 1997
Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Section 19 Minibus (Designated Bodies) (Amendment) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 31st March 1997.
Interpretation2.
In this Order—
“the Schedule” means the Schedule to the principal order.
Amendment of the principal order3.
The principal order shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this Order.
Bodies ceasing to be designated4.
Items 30A, 51, 72 and 73 of the Schedule shall be omitted.
New designated bodies5.

Every council constituted under section 21 of the Local Government Act 19723.(a)
Bodies to whom the council may make grants under section 65 of the Health Services and Public Health Act 19684.(b)
Schools or bodies which fulfil the duty of the council under the Education Act 19965 with respect to the provision of education, and bodies connected with such schools or bodies.(c)
Bodies which assist and coordinate activities of community bodies within the area of the council.”
Change of name6.
In the Schedule—
(a)
“Barnardo's”;
(b)
“Halliwick Association of Swimming Therapy”;
(c)
“The Guide Association”;
(d)
“the Methodist Council”; and
(e)
“Phab Limited”.
Change of address7.
For the address given in column (2)(b) of an item in the Schedule referred to in column (1) of the Table below there shall be substituted the address given opposite that item in column (2) of the Table.

Joint Scout and Guide units.”
Amendments consequent upon local government reorganisation in Scotland9.

Every council constituted under section 2 of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 19946.(a)
Bodies connected with the fulfilment of any duty imposed on the council by the Social Work (Scotland) Act 19687.(b)
Schools or other educational establishments which fulfil the duty of the council under the Education (Scotland) Act 19808 with respect to the provision of education, and bodies connected with such schools or educational establishments.(c)
Community councils within the area of the council.
(d)
Bodies which assist and co-ordinate activities of community bodies within the area of the council.”

This Order further amends the Section 19 Minibus (Designated Bodies) Order 1987.
Four bodies cease to be designated under section 19 of the Transport Act 1985, the current names of five designated bodies are substituted for those given in the 1987 Order and the current addresses of nine designated bodies are so substituted (articles 4, 6 and 7).
County and county borough councils in Wales (established under section 21 of the Local Government Act 1972, as substituted by section 2 of the Local Government (Wales) Act 1994) are newly designated as bodies which can grant permits in relation to the use of small buses under section 19 of the 1985 Act (article 5).
Joint Scout and Guide units become a class of body to whom the Scout Association may grant such permits (article 8).
The entries relating to Scottish local authorities have been revised to take account of local government reorganisation in Scotland pursuant to the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 1994 (article 9).
