The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 41(1), (2) and (5) of the Road Traffic Act 1988(1) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with section 195(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation and commencement

1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) (Amendment) (No. 6) Regulations 1997 and shall come into force on 31st December 1997.

Amendment of the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986

2.—(1) The Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986(2) shall be further amended as follows.

(2) In paragraphs (10) and (10B)(c) of regulation 61 (emissions) for “1st January 1998” in both places where those words occur there shall be substituted “1st May 1998”.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Road Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1986 by amending from 1st January 1998 to 1st May 1998 the date specified in regulation 61(10) and (10B)(c) of those Regulations (emissions in relation to amateur-built vehicles).
