The Common Lodging Houses (Repeal) Consequential Provisions Order 1997

Coming into force

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 80(3) of the Housing Act 19961 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and Commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Common Lodging Houses (Repeal) Consequential Provisions Order 1997 and shall come into force on 3rd March 1997.

Repeals2

The following enactments are repealed to the extent specified;

sections 80 to 82 of the Poole Corporation Act 19282;

section 16(e) of the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 19813;

3

section 10(2)(m) of the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 19844; and

4

section 70(1)(j) of the Leicestershire Act 19855.

This order repeals provisions relating to common lodging houses in four local Acts consequential on the repeal of Part XII of the Housing Act 1985 which related to such premises. The Acts are the Poole Corporation Act 1928, the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 1981, the Greater London Council (General Powers) Act 1984 and the Leicestershire Act 1985.
