This Order makes provision, pursuant to paragraph 14 of Schedule 1 to the Crime (Sentences) Act 1997 (“the 1997 Act”), in relation to transfers of prisoners within the British Islands which are “restricted transfers” as defined in paragraph 6 of Schedule 1 to the Act. The persons who may be subject to such transfers are those who have been remanded in custody in connection with an offence, who are serving a sentence of imprisonment in connection with an offence or who are undergoing, or are about to undergo, supervision in the community in connection with an offence.

Schedule 1 to the Order sets out the provisions under the law of the place from which the restricted transfer is made which are to apply to such a transfer, and Schedule 2 contains transitional provisions.
