Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 26 of the Food and Environment Protection Act 19851, and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

This Order may be cited as the Environment Protection (Overseas Territories) (Amendment) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 21st August 1997.

The Environment Protection (Overseas Territories) Order 19882 shall be amended by adding to Schedule 2 (which specifies the Territories to which that Order applies) the following entries:

  • Falkland Islands

  • South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.

This Order extends to the Falkland Islands and to South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands the provisions of the Food and Environment Protection Act 1985 which control the deposit of substances and articles in the sea and under the sea bed.
