Coming into force
The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of, and Part IV of Schedule 9 to, the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19841, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis, pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act2, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the A3 Trunk Road (Malden Way and Tolworth Rise, Kingston Upon Thames) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1974 (Variation) Order 1997 and shall come into force on 27th January 1997.
2.
The Trunk Road (Malden Way and Tolworth Rise, Kingston Upon Thames) (Prescribed Routes) Order 19743 shall be varied as follows:
In article 2(1), before the definition of “the prescribed road” there shall be inserted the following definitions—

Before article 4 there shall be inserted the following article—
“3A.
The provisions of Article 3 shall not apply to a public service vehicle being used in the provision of a London local service with a maximum length not exceeding 8.5 metres proceeding through the opening in the north-western reservation which is specified in item 1 of Schedule 1 of this Order.”.
