Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the St James’s and Seacroft University Hospitals National Health Service Trust (Establishment) Amendment Order 1996, and shall come into force on 7th April 1996.
Amendment of Establishment Order2.
“Nature and functions of the trust3.
(1)
The trust is established for the purposes specified in section 5(1) of the Act.
(2)
The trust’s functions shall be—
(a)
to own and manage under section 5(1)(a) of the Act hospital accommodation and services provided at the Seacroft Hospital, York Road, Leeds LS14 6OM (including the management of its teaching and research facilities);
(b)
to provide and manage under section 5(1)(b) of the Act hospital accommodation and services at St James’s University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds LS9 7TF and associated hospitals (including the management of their teaching and research facilities); and
(c)
to manage under section 5(1)(b) of the Act community health services provided from the St James’s University Hospital, Beckett Street, Leeds LS9 7TF, and to own the associated premises.”

This Order amends the Order which established the St James’s and Seacroft University Hospitals National Health Service Trust to alter the purpose for which the trust has been established and to amend its functions.
The Order confers on the trust the purpose specified in section 5(1)(b) of the National Health Service and Community Care Act 1990 and, in pursuance of that purpose, extends the functions of the trust to include the function of providing and managing hospital accommodation and services from St James’s Hospital, Leeds previously managed by the Leeds Eastern Health Authority and from associated premises,
