The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) Order 1996

Coming into force

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 1, 7(1)(a), (b) and (c) and (2) and 23(f) and (g) of the Animal Health Act 19811, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Title and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) (Amendment) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 1st April 1996.

Amendment to the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 19782

The Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 19782 (“the 1978 Order”) shall be amended as follows—

a

at the end of Schedule 1 to that Order (which lists disinfectants approved by the Minister) there shall be added the entries listed in Schedule 1 to this Order;

b

the entries listed in Schedule 2 to this Order shall be deleted from Schedule 1 to the 1978 Order;

c

the provisions of Schedule 3 to this Order shall be substituted for Schedule 2 to the 1978 Order (which lists disinfectants subject to transitional provisions); and

d

in article 6(2) of the 1978 Order (which specifies the date until which disinfectants subject to transitional provisions remain approved) for the words “30th June 1995” there shall be substituted the words “31st July 1996”.

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order further amends the Diseases of Animals (Approved Disinfectants) Order 1978 by adding to the list of approved disinfectants in that Order those newly approved disinfectants specified in Schedule 1 to this Order and by deleting from that list the disinfectants specified in Schedule 2. The disinfectants deleted may, however, continue to be used as approved disinfectants until 31st July 1996.
