Avon County Council: functions in respect of specified schools

11.—(1) The functions of the Council of the County of Avon (“the County Council”) referred to in paragraph (2) below which, apart from the abolition of that Council effected by the Avon (Structural Change) Order 1995 (“the Order”), would after 1 April 1996 have fallen to be discharged by that Council, shall on and after that date be discharged by Bristol City Council.

(2) The functions referred to in paragraph (1) above are the functions of the County Council in respect of the following schools—

  • Croydon Hall School;

  • Kingsdon Manor School;

  • Notton House School; and

  • Woodstock special school;

including any functions of the local education authority under the articles of government for any of those schools.

(3) The functions of the County Council in respect of Filton Park special school, including any functions of the local education authority under the school’s articles of government, which, apart from the abolition of that Council effected by the Order, would after 1 April 1996 have fallen to be discharged by that Council, shall on and after that date be discharged by the South Gloucestershire District Council.

(4) The functions of the County Council in respect of Periton Mead School, including any functions of the local education authority under the school’s articles of government, which, apart from the abolition of that Council effected by the Order, would after 1 April 1996 have fallen to be discharged by that Council, shall on and after that date be discharged by the North Somerset District Council.
