Coming into force

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(1) and (3) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 19841, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after consultation with the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis pursuant to section 7(6) of that Act2, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the A13 Trunk Road (New Road, Havering) (Prohibition of U-Turns and Use of Gaps in Central Reserve) Order 1996, and shall come into force on 9th December 1996.

In this Order—

  • “central reserve” means that part of New Road (A13) which separates its two carriageways for the safety and guidance of traffic using that road; and

  • “Walden Avenue”, “South Street” and “Lower Mardyke Avenue” mean the roads known by those names in the London Borough of Havering.

No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in the eastbound carriageway of New Road (A13) to make a U-turn movement at its junction with Lower Mardyke Avenue, so as to proceed in the opposite direction.

No person shall cause or permit any vehicle to enter or proceed through the gaps in the central reserve which lie opposite South Street and Walden Avenue.
