Article 2
The convention defining the Statute of the European Schools signed at Luxembourg on 21st June 1994 and made between the Members of the European Communities and the European Communities and entering into force on a date to be specified in the London, Edinburgh and Belfast Gazettes(2).
(This note is not part of the Order)
This Order declares the convention defining the Statute of the European Schools signed at Luxembourg on 21st June 1994 and made between the Members of the European Communities and the European Communities to be a Community Treaty as defined in section 1(2) of the European Communities Act 1972. The convention cancels and replaces the original convention defining the Statute of the European School of 12th April 1957 and the Protocol thereto of 13th April 1962. The principal effect of declaring the convention to be a Community Treaty as so defined is to bring into play in relation to it the provisions of section 2 of the European Communities Act 1972 which provides for the implementation of treaties so specified.
