GOVERNMENT TRADING FUNDS

The HMSO Trading Fund (Revocation) Order 1996

Coming into force

Whereas:

    the operations of the department of the government known as Her Majesty’s Stationery Office (“HMSO”) are financed by means of a fund established by the HMSO Trading Fund Order 19801 made under the Government Trading Funds Act 19732 (“the 1973 Act”), and as amended by the HMSO Trading Fund (Amendment) Order 19943 made under the 1973 Act, and

    it appears to the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, being the Minister of the Crown responsible for HMSO, that its operations should cease to be financed by means of a trading fund;

Now, therefore, the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1 and 6(1) of the 1973 Act, and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, with the concurrence of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:—

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the HMSO Trading Fund (Revocation) Order 1996 and shall come into force on 5th October 1996.

Revocation2

This Order revokes the HMSO Trading Fund Order 1980 and the HMSO Trading Fund (Amendment) Order 1994.

This Order revokes the HMSO Trading Fund Order 1980 (“the 1980 Order”) and the HMSO Trading Fund (Amendment) Order 1994. As a result of the revocation, the trading fund established by the 1980 Order ceases to exist and the operations of HMSO cease to be financed by means of a trading fund and its assets and liabilities are no longer appropriated to a trading fund.
