Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1(1) and (2) and 24(1) of the Food and Environment Protection Act 19851 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) Revocation Order 1996 and shall come into force at 12.00 hours on 23rd September 1996.

Revocation2

The Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) Order 19962 is hereby revoked.

This Order revokes the Food Protection (Emergency Prohibitions) (Paralytic Shellfish Poisoning) Order 1996 which prohibited–

a

fishing for or taking mussels, scallops, and razor clams within the area designated in the Schedule to that Order (article 4),

b

movement of such mussels, scallops and razor clams out of that area (article 5),

c

landing, using in the preparation or processing for supply of food of, supplying and other specified activities in relation to, such mussels, scallops and razor clams from the designated area within the United Kingdom (article 6).

The effect of this Order is to remove completely the prohibition on fishing for, taking, moving, landing, using in food production and supplying mussels, scallops and razor clams from the designated area.
