The Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 1995

The Secretary of State for Transport, being a Minister designated1 for the purposes of subsection (2) of section 2 of the European Communities Act 19722 in relation to the regulation of the type, description, construction or equipment of vehicles, and of components of vehicles, and in particular any vehicle type approval scheme, in exercise of the powers conferred by that section and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

These Regulations may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) (Amendment) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 1st October 1995.

Schedule 1 to the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 19923 shall be amended as follows.

These Regulations amend Schedule 1 to the Motor Vehicles (EC Type Approval) Regulations 1992 and are made in consequence of Commission Directives 94/53/EC, 94/68/EC, 94/78/EC and Directive 94/20/EC which was made by the European Parliament and the Council. These Regulations also correct an error in item 39 of Schedule 1.

Directive 94/53/EC further amends Council Directive 78/316/EEC relating to the interior fittings of motor vehicles (identification of controls, tell-tales and indicators).

Directive 94/68/EC amends Council Directive 78/318/EEC relating to the wiper and washer systems of motor vehicles.

Directive 94/78/EC amends Council Directive 78/549/EEC relating to the wheel guards of motor vehicles.

Directive 94/20/EC relates to mechanical coupling devices of motor vehicles and their trailers and their attachment to those vehicles.
