The Welfare Food (Amendment) Regulations 1995

The Secretary of State for Health in exercise of the powers conferred by section 13(3) and (4) of the Social Security Act 19881 and section 175(2) to (5) of the Social Security Contributions and Benefits Act 19922 (as applied by section 15A of the Social Security Act 1988) and all other powers enabling her in that behalf, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation1

—These Regulations may be cited as the Welfare Food (Amendment) Regulations 1995 and shall come into force on 22nd May 1995.

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Welfare Food Regulations 19883.

Amendment of regulation 5 of the principal Regulations2

In regulation 5(1) of the principal Regulations (purchase of welfare food) for “£3.50” there shall be substituted “£3.55”.

Amendment of Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations3

In Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations (dried milk specified for the purpose of the Regulations)—

a

after the entry relating to Aptamil there shall be inserted the following entries—

Boots Formula 1

The Boots Company plc

Boots Formula 2

The Boots Company plc; and

b

for the entry in column (2) “Farley Health Products Ltd” in both places where it occurs there shall be substituted the entry “H J Heinz Company Ltd”.

Revocation4

Regulation 4 of the Welfare Food Amendment Regulations 19944 is hereby revoked.

These Regulations amend the Welfare Food Regulations 1988 (“the principal Regulations”).

Regulation 2 amends regulation 5 of the principal Regulations (purchase of welfare food) to increase the price paid for dried milk by a person entitled to purchase it from £3.50 to £3.55 for 900 grammes per week.

Regulation 3 amends Schedule 1 to the principal Regulations to specify two additional brands of dried milk and to take account of a change of manufacturer of two dried milk products.

Regulation 4 makes a consequential revocation.
