The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council
Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 1(1) of the Marshall Scholarships Act 1959 (1)or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:
1. This Order may be cited as the Marshall Scholarships Order 1990 and shall come into force on 31st May 1990.
2. Section 1 of the Marshall Aid Commemoration Act 1953 (2)shall have effect with the substitution for the reference to thirty scholarships of a reference to forty scholarships.

This Order, which is made under section 1(1) of the Marshall Scholarships Act 1959, increases from thirty to forty the annual number of scholarships tenable at universities in the United Kingdom by citizens of the United States of America who are graduates of recognised institutions of higher learning in the United States of America. The expenditure incurred in the provision of these scholarships is defrayed by grants out of moneys provided by Parliament.
