1. —This Order may be cited as the Local Authorities (Councillors) (Declaration of Acceptance of Office) (Scotland) Order 1990, and shall come into force on 3rd May 1990.
2. The declaration of acceptance of office by a person elected to office as a councillor of a local authority shall be in the form prescribed in the Schedule to this Order, or in a form to the like effect.

This Order prescribes the form of declaration of acceptance of office to be made by a person elected to office as a councillor of a local authority before he can act in that office. The form of declaration requires that person to undertake to be guided by the National Code of Local Government Conduct issued under section 31 of the Local Government and Housing Act 1989.
