The A23 Trunk Road (Purley Way, Croydon (Prescribed Routes) Order 1990

Coming into force on the date specified IN ARTICLE 1 BELOW

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6 of the Road Traffic Regulation ACt 1984 (1)( “the 1984 Act ”) and of all other enabling powers, and after consulting the Secretary of State for the Home Department in accordance with section 7(6) of the 1984 Act, hereby makes the following Order:—

1.  This Order may be cited as the A23 Trunk Road (Purley Way, Croydon) (Prescribed Routes) Order 1990 and shall come into force on the date when the construction of the central reservation in Purley Way opposite its junction with Waddon Marsh Way has been completed.

2.  In this order—

“Purley Way ” means the length of the London-Brighton Trunk Road (A23) in the London Borough of Croydon known as Purley Way; and

“central reservation ” means that part of Purley Way which separates the two carriageways of Purley Way for the safety and guidance of vehicles using that road.

3.  Every person causing any vehicle to proceed southeastwards in Waddon Marsh Way shall on reaching its junction with Purley Way cause that vehicle to turn left in that part of Waddon Marsh Way which lies on the northwestern side of the triangular island site in the carriageway at the junction.

4.  No person shall cause or permit any vehicle proceeding in Purley Way to—

(a)make a right turn so as to enter Waddon Marsh Way; and

(b)enter or proceed through the gap in the central reservation which lies 50 metres southeast of its junction with Waddon Marsh Way.

5.  Nothing in article 3 above shall apply to anything done with the permission or at the direction of a constable in uniform.
