The Reserve Forces Act 1980 (Constitution of Associations) Order 1990

Coming into force

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 122(3) of the Reserve Forces Act 19801, hereby makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Reserve Forces Act 1980 (Constitution of Associations) Order 1990 and shall come into force on 31st March 1990.

Constitution of Associations2

Schedule 7 to the Reserve Forces Act 19802 shall be amended as follows.

In paragraph 8(5) (interpretation) in the definition of—

a

“marine member”, after the word “Marines” there shall be added the words “or who is specially qualified by his interest in and knowledge of matters affecting the marine forces”;

b

“military member”, after the word “forces” there shall be added the words “or who is specially qualified by his interest in and knowledge of military matters”;

c

“naval member”, after the word “Navy” there shall be added the words “or who is specially qualified by his interest in and knowledge of naval matters”.

This Order further amends Schedule 7 to the Reserve Forces Act 1980 which provides for schemes for the constitution of associations of the kind referred to in s.121 of the Act. The Order amends certain definitions in the interpretation provision of that Schedule which was first amended by S.I.1983/1966.
