The London—Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (A12) (Kessingland Bypass, Suffolk) Order 1990

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980((1)), now vested in him((2)), and of all other enabling powers:

1.  The length of highway which is described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when the Order comes into force.

2.  The line of the new trunk road is indicated by the heavy black line on the deposited plan.

3.  The length of the existing trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

4.  In this Order—

(a)all measurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

(b)“classified road” as a classification for a highway means that the highway is not a principal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;

(ii)“the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA/10/2E/306 marked the “London—Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (A12) (Kessingland Bypass Suffolk) Order 1990” signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

(iii)“the new trunk road” means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order;

(iv)“the existing trunk road” means the London—Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (A12).

5.  This Order shall come into force on 9th January 1991 and may be cited as the London—Great Yarmouth Trunk Road (A12) (Kessingland Bypass, Suffolk) Order 1990.

SCHEDULE 1THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

The new trunk road is at Kessingland in the County of Suffolk and is about 1.8 kilometres in length, from a point on the existing trunk road 72 metres north-east of its junction with C916 road, Kessingland (GR 519867) in a generally north-east direction to a point on the existing trunk road 300 metres south of the southern boundary of the property known as Jaydene, Gislesham (GR 529882).

SCHEDULE 2LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length of the existing trunk road ceasing to be a trunk road and is about 1.99 kilometres in length and is between a point 45 metres west of the western boundary of the property known as The Gables, Kessingland, and a point 310 metres south of the southern boundary of the property known as Jaydene, Gisleham.
